These pictures were taken during a trip to Rome in Jun 2008, where I presented a 2-day seminar on "Web 2.0".

This is the Canova restaurant, right at the edge of Piazza del Popolo on Via del Babuino; as you can see, it has a bunch of outdoor tables, for people to enjoy a cup of coffee, a glass of wine, or just some good old-fashioned people-watching.

I got here, on my way back from the Spanish Steps, just before 7:45 PM — in the last glow of the sunshine before it dropped down below the skyline of the city behind me.

Here is the bald-headed man, and his female friend, obviously engrossed in some animated conversation. With a telephone lens, his tattoos become much more obvious…

Note: this photo was published in an undated blog titled (of all things!) "How to Avoid a Cesarean Section (C Section)." It was also published as an illustration in a Sep 2009 Mahalo blog titled "Rome restaurants," at www-dot-mahalo-dot-com-slash-rome-dash-restaruants . And it was published in a Sep 28, 2009 blog titled "Blogging: You Need to Pay Attention to Your Comments." More recently, it was published in an Oct 15, 2009 blog titled "The hidden secrets of market research."

Moving into 2010, the photo was published in a Feb 23, 2010 Japanese blog with a title whose meaning is completely lost to me: "初めて会ったばかりの知らない女性と気軽に話す4つのコツ." And it was published in an Apr 26, 2010 blog titled "What is Emotional Intelligence?" It was also published in a Jun 18, 2010 blog titled "The best places to break up." And it was published in an undated (mid-Nov 2010) blog titled "What is Emotional Intelligence?"

Moving into 2011, the photo was published in a Jan 17, 2011 blog titled "Tracking Your Blog Comments: Spring 2011." And it was published in a Jan 22,2011 blog titled "Eleven Ways: You Will Not Loose Your Woman," at trifter-dot-com-slash-europe/united-kingdom/eleven-ways-you-will-not-loose-your-woman/ . It was also published in a May 15, 2011 FM Dallas blog titled Cool Restaurant Images, and a May 19, 2011 blog titled "Code-switching Is Much More than Careless Mixing: Multilinguals Know the Rules!"

Cloudy thinking or thinking out loud, however you look at it, the secret life of a library is a riot of information. Using, I pulled tag clouds on subects from toys to free market economics to okonomiyaki.

Try and guess what I searched for to build each tag cloud, and you win first prize in the web 2.0 mystery contest, meaning you’ll have solved the greatest puzzle of social tagging: how can we possibly make sense of them? PS, the grand prize is amongst the clouds…

  1. Animated storyteller!

  2. The Italians tend to become very animated in almost any conversation … so this one could have started when the guy asked, "So, how was your day at work, dear?"

Or maybe she was complaining about his tattoos … :)

  3. Great photo. Candid and expressive!
Just want you to know that I used it on my site at:
    What is Emotional Intelligence

    Thanks for sharing!

  4. Thanks YourDon for the spiffing picture, I’ve used it here,,

  5. Sheep!

Not really an answer, but sometimes sheep do take over the mind. Would 42 come close?
